Intraoral Scanner

Dental assistant at Cassity & Legacy Implants and Periodontics using iTero digital scanner on a patientAt Cassity & Legacy Implants and Periodontics, we strive to provide you with the utmost care. In order to do this, we have begun to employ the use of the latest dental technology. These new upgrades not only help us, but they also offer many benefits to you. One such piece of technology is the iTero intraoral scanner.

What is An Intraoral Scanner?

An intraoral scanner is a piece of equipment that uses optical and laser scanning to take three-dimensional images of your mouth. The iTero intraoral scanner is compact and comes equipped with a wand attached to a portable monitor, which we use to scan the inside of your mouth. This intraoral scanner allows us to give you the best, most accurate, care possible.

Faster Scans

With traditional scanning, every time an image needed to be captured, we would have to pause, click, reposition, and start again. The iTero intraoral scanner allows us the ability to scan in real-time, without the need to constantly stop and start. Faster scans mean that your appointments are shorter.

Better Scans

Not only can we take scans faster, but the quality of the scans is also better. Scans are available instantly in a three-dimensional view on the high-definition monitor. We can rotate them to get multiple views and zoom in on points of interest. The scans are done in color which allows us to distinguish between the different types of tissues and make a more accurate diagnosis. All of these factors allow for us to better communicate with you chairside, and you can see exactly what it is that we are talking about.

Digital Files

With the iTero intraoral scanner technology, we can save your images with a touch of a button. A digital file allows us to quickly and easily access your scans during your appointments, making spending precious minutes digging through paper files a thing of the past. The other advantage to digital files is that we can instantly send your scans to whomever they need to be sent to - specialists, labs, even CAD/CAM systems.

Multiple Uses

The iTero intraoral scanner allows us to help you take care of a number of different needs. It can be used to create custom abutments for dental implants. It can also be used to create dental restorations - crowns, veneers, bridges, inlays/onlays - by taking a digital impression. This eliminates the discomfort and awkwardness associated with traditional impressions. The scanner can be used for orthodontic work as well, connecting to orthoCAD technology. Not only does it create scans of your mouth for your digital file, but it can also be used to make customized Invisalign® braces.

Same Day Restorations

With traditional restorations - bridges, crowns, veneers, inlays/onlays - the procedure takes two visits. The first visit involves taking the impression and color matching your teeth. The information is then sent to a lab to create the restoration. It can take up to two weeks for the restoration to be ready, and then you return to the office to check for fit and have it installed. The iTero technology can be connected with in-house milling stations, which means that you can have your restoration the same day. After preparing the tooth (or teeth), the iTero is used to take the scan and the information is then sent to the milling technology, where your restoration is created. The results are more accurate and you save valuable time.

Intraoral scanners can greatly improve your dental experience. Give us a call today at South Ogden:(385) 626-0977 or Kaysville:(385)-439-0101 for more information!
