What Can Be Done to Regenerate Gums After Recession?
Posted on 8/25/2019 by Cassity & Legacy Implants and Periodontics
If you experience gum recession, regeneration is not an option. Once the gums are gone, they are gone for good. The gums are not like other parts of the body, such as the skin, which would grow back and heal with time if it is peeled back.
This is something to think about, and something that will give you that push to take better care of your teeth and gums from the start. Here are some considerations to make, but also some treatment plans that are available to some with recession gums.
Treatment Plans for Receding Gums
The one biggest treatment plan that is being used by our office is a deep pocket cleaning. This cleaning is known as scaling and root planing. It is required to remove any plaque and build up in the mouth that can be causing issues. This may not be the most ideal procedure for some, but it can help the gums in the mouth become and stay healthier.
Another treatment plan is deep pocket surgery. This surgery is then used to reduce the size of the pockets and bring the gums back tight to where they belong on the teeth. This procedure is one that we provide within our office and can recommend it.
Eating a healthy diet and making sure to keep your mouth as clean as possible can help you avoid gum recession in the first place. However, for more advanced problems with gum recession, you may also want to consider that gum grafts may become necessary.
Speak with our office today if you are experiencing gum recession. We would be more than happy to provide you with more insight and help that you need. We want to ensure that your gums and oral health are the best that they can be, and through the use of these treatment plans, it might just be able to help.
